Bankhaus August Lenz (Ketan Bhatti’s Euronet Mix) Having originally studied Jazz drums at UdK Berlin, Ketan Bhatti moved on to become mostly a highly prolific composer and producer. Along numerous opera, theatre and film scores, he composed the music for three internationally touring breakdance shows by The Flying Steps, in a long-lasting creative partnership with his brother Vivan Bhatti. In 2018, Ketan Bhatti released his album ‚Nodding Terms‘, performed together with German-Icelandic Ensemble Adapter and Milian Vogel, full of intricate acoustic rhythm and sound studies, echoing the aesthetics of modern IDM and Hip Hop. His version of Frick’s pizzicato-heavy piece ‚Bankhaus August Lenz‘ combines Industrial techno soundscapes with polyrhythmical meanderings. Great Song Title 9 (KUF’s Funked Up Jive) As described by Berlin’s Hardwax record store, KUF make ‚superb raved, funked and housed up, UK Bass culture informed live jams‘. The Jazz and Krautrock infused trio is formed of Tom Schneider on keys, Valentin Link on bass and Hendrik Havekost on drums. Yet…they actually make vocal music. Whizz kid Schneider melds, bends and squeezes self-recorded samples in real time using a Nord Wave keyboard, creating haunting vocal collages and polyphonies. With no artificial synchronization in place, Link’s and Havekost’s hard jacking interplay hits a special spot combining seamless complexity and hi-energy attitude. KUF’s cover version of ‚Great Song Title 9‘ kills a few brain cells as Schneider unfolds the synth pads and leads against Link’s and Havekost’s twisted grooves.
