Dough-Boy has linked up with Mongolian rapper Ginjin for his 4th album single, “So Cold.” Following musical alliances with Lil Yachty, Pressa and Barry Chen, the Hong Kong-based rapper releases a winter-appropriate hip-hop record.
The track finds both rappers scrutinizing the cold world they live in and tenaciously declaring how they have dealt with frosty climate. The song isn’t entirely allegorical, though. Ginjin hails from Ulaanbaatar, one of the coldest and most northernmost capital cities of the world. Mongolians are notorious known for being a tough people, having survived millennia in the frigid winters of Central Asia’s vast landlocked steppe and desert.
Dough-Boy provides the production of the track. An upbeat club-friendly tempo is contrasted by wistful harp arpeggios, roaring basses and sturdy percussion. Ginjin’s gruff, baritone delivery is reminiscent to that of 50 Cent and Pop Smoke, distinct from Dough-Boy’s signature piercing vocals.
